Bike Frames

Bike frames are the skeleton on which the rest of the components are attached and supported. For this reason, great pains are undertaken by manufacturers to create frames that combine lightweight designs with strength and durability. If a frame is showing signs of wear such as cracks and faulty welds, it should be replaced.

Bike frames vary depending on the type of bike for which they’re being designed. Road bikes often use carbon fiber frames due to their lightweight, rigid design characteristics. However, mountain bikes are most often made from metal to ensure they hold up.

Bike frames can also vary quite a bit in price. High-tech road bike frames often cost several thousand dollars. For the average rider, however, a bike frame can sometimes only cost a few hundred.
